Here at Yellow Brick Road, we love offering a fun, open child care location for parents to leave their kids. Our Plymouth daycare center gives kids a haven where they can grow academically, socially, and personally. If you are looking for daycare options, make sure to check out our location. But having fun and growing is a 24/7 job for kids, and it is important to spend quality time in the home as well. To help you enjoy your free time with the little ones, here are some fun kids games that you can all play together.
Treasure Hunt
Kids love any game where there are pirates involved, and they will have a lot of fun role playing while looking for their “hidden treasure”. A treasure hunt is a great way to spend both a sunny day outside and a rainy day indoors. Not only will your children get to act out their favorite pirate scenes, they will get to rack their little brains looking for the “treasure” you’ve hidden, which could be anything from their favorite toy to a candy treat for them to enjoy. The great thing about this game is you can be as involved as you want, so you can play both when you have time to kill AND when you need to knock some minor chores off of your todo list.
Fort Building
Kids learn by doing, and they are essentially blank slates. Any task where they are putting things together is going to build their spatial awareness, and building a fort is a great way to have fun while doing it! It doesn’t require any extra materials, just the pillows and sheets you have lying around the house. You can even make it a competition to see who can build the biggest fort. Of course, you should realize, there’s only room for one fort in a town; make sure you are prepared for the inevitable fort battle!
Duck Duck Goose
A children’s classic, Duck Duck Goose is a great game choice to burn off some of that seemingly endless energy, although it does require a small group. If you have never played, simply line up all of the players in a circle facing each other, and pick one person to be the “goose”. The “goose” walks around the circle, tapping each person on the head while saying either “duck” or “goose”. For the people sitting down, if the “goose” says “duck”, they continue sitting. If they get tapped and the “goose” says “goose”, then they must jump up and tag that person before they make it around the circle and sit down. If the “goose” gets tagged, they continue being the goose. If they sit down before being tagged, then the one giving chase is the new goose.
Tic Tac Toe
A great game for long car rides or a quiet night in, Tic Tac Toe can be played with a piece of paper, and is great for helping children learn basic strategy and spatial awareness. Simply make a grid with two horizontal and two vertical lines. One player is circle, one is x, with each person making their mark in a square on the grid during their turn. The goal is to get three in a row. It’s a quick game, but surprisingly fun and rewarding!
Hopefully you can find the time to enjoy these games with your little one soon. If you are busy during the day, and require a Plymouth children’s day care center where your kids can be safe, learn, and play, then give Yellow Brick Road a call today!
