Now is the time to squeeze in all the last minute fun activities that you have been wanting to do with the kiddos!
While you may have a few plans up your sleeves, we want to help make the end of your summer as awesome as possible. We know that the weather can be finicky in the Minnetonka area, so we have compiled a list of fun activities that you can do with your children both indoors and outdoors.
At Yellow Brick Road Early Childhood Development Center, we know that the little ones can get bored easily and are constantly on the go. We provide our students with a stimulating environment, different and fun activities, and a teaching style that allows your kids to learn at their own pace. Your little one can learn, grow, and develop at our child care center during the first few years of their life and we can help teach them the important skills they need as they grow older. With locations in Minnetonka, Plymouth, Eden Prairie, and Maple Grove, you are sure to find a location that works for you!
Enough about us. We want to help you make the most of the rest of your summer with your kiddos. In this blog, we are going to discuss some of the fun indoor and outdoor activities to plan with your kiddos.
The Indoor Activities
During the rainy days, it can be difficult to make it outside. But it is also fun to have a relaxing day indoors from time to time. Whether it is raining or you simply want to have an easy and relaxed day, there are many indoor activities that can be fun for you and the kiddos.
Baking
Baking is fun for you and your kiddos. Kids love helping with baking, whether you are baking cookies for yourself or baking for your relatives, your kids will want to be a part of it. This is also a great way to get your kids learning a thing or two about measuring and following instructions. Make a mess, giggle, and have a good time baking with your children. And don’t be ashamed to enjoy the treats after they are done! You worked hard for those.
Movie Day
Having a movie marathon is a fun way to spend the day relaxing, this is a great idea after a day of outdoor adventures. Take a break and kick back with a few of your kiddo’s favorite movies. Some kid movies can even teach valuable lessons and help your children understand different things. The movie Inside Out teaches children about emotions and the importance of them, this is a great movie to teach your children emotional intelligence. Make some popcorn, build a pillow pile, and cuddle with your children while watching movies all day long!
The Outdoor Activities
Since summer only lasts part of the year, you will want to enjoy some time outside as well! During the last feel weeks of summer, there are many things you can do with your kids that they will love!
Head to the Lake
One of the best things about Minnesota is the lake that you can find literally everywhere! Spending a day at your favorite lake is a great way to spend time outside while staying cool. Bring water toys, buckets and shovels for the beach, and pack a lunch so you can spend a few hours at the lake! You could even try hitting different lakes throughout the rest of summer to find the best on in your area!
Go on a Bike Ride
If your kids are old enough to bike or attach a bike trailer that your kids can cruise it while you bike. Head to an ice cream shop to enjoy a sweet treat before heading home. You can bike down paths, through town, or to the park to play for a while before returning home. While this may not seem like an exciting thing to do, ask yourself when the last time you rode your bike to get ice cream was.
These are only a few ideas that you can do to enjoy the last few weeks of summer. There are so many things you can do that are creative, fun, adventurous, and perfect for your kiddos. Be sure to spend some quality time with the little ones as summer comes to an end. Many of the things you do can help them learn and grow, or even help their development!
