At Yellow Brick Road our mission is to “Put good humans into the world, and leave it better than we found it”! In following our mission while we grow in our communities, we approach the schools we grow in the same. In our communities in Iowa, Nebraska, and Minnesota, we have acquired schools that were full of nurturing and positivity (two of our favorite core values), but schools that we could leave ‘better than we found it’ once they joined the Yellow Brick Road family! With our mission and our core values as our central focus, we have taken on the responsibility of enhancing the communities we join with every new school that ‘Becomes YBR’!
This blog post is kicking off our series ‘Growing with Yellow Brick Road’ as we are in a time of growth ourselves. We will reflect on our past growing endeavors, get excited about our upcoming schools, and explore all of the innovation happening inside of Yellow Brick Road!
So, when we get a new location, what does it mean to Become YBR?
Step 1: We meet with families, teachers, and the community to ensure that the love and care that has lived in the school will remain! The changes we make inside of each school we enter are only to improve the quality of care our families receive while giving our teachers more opportunities for professional development! (You guessed it… to leave them better than we found ‘em!)
Step 2: Train up our teachers! We have a whole training process for all of our teachers so that they understand how to use our curriculum, our daily app, and how to implement what we call “The YBR Way!”
Step 3: Give the school a fresh face! We renovate our schools so that every school feels like a Yellow Brick Road. Our owners and executive directors are actively hands-on throughout the entire renovation process! So much attention to detail goes into this step so that everyone who walks in the building knows that they are now a part of something big… the YBR Family!!
Step 4: Celebrate!! Once we are settled in a new community, our schools are ready inside and out, and our mission is whole-heartedly infused in our building… we are ready to party!! We have some of the BEST grand opening parties in the mid-west!
For us at Yellow Brick Road, growing our schools has always been about joining new communities and providing access to quality care! With our hands-on homegrown owners at the helm of our schools in all three states, we are able to seamlessly implement our mission every step of the way!
